Big data in healthcare is being focused around the world as one of the most powerful areas in research that will transform the way we will deliver healthcare within the next decade. This pertains to how big data can provide a basis for precision medicine, which simply is healthcare delivery that is personalized, precise, preventative and predictive. ICU is one area in healthcare where rich and comprehensive data can be acquired in a longitudinal manner. To this effect, the steering committee and I will be hosting the first big data machine learning in healthcare conference using big data from various critical care cohorts from USA, Asia and Australia/New Zealand at Tokyo Medical and Dental University.
We share a common vision and hope that this event will function as a catalyst for development of an integrated multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, system engineers, statisticians, industries, venture capitalists and other professionals to work as a team to ultimately optimize patient care at the bedside by means of machine learning with big data. We are extremely proud that many of the leading experts in this field from around the world will be joining us as faculty for this event in Tokyo. 医療分野におけるビッグデータは、今後10年間で医療の進め方を大きく変えていく最も有力な分野の一つとして、世界中で注目を集めています。ビッグデータを活用することで個別化された医療に加え、それらが正確でかつ予防・予測可能な医療の基盤を構築することを実現することを可能としてくれます。ICU（集中治療室）は包括的で豊富なデータを縦断的に獲得することが可能な医療分野の一つです。この点を踏まえ、アメリカ・アジア・オーストラリア・ニュージーランドから集めた集中治療におけるビッグデータを活用することを日本初となるBig Data Machine Learning in Healthcare Conferenceとして運営委員会とともに東京医科歯科大学にて開催することにいたしました。
具体的にはBostonのBeth Israel Deaconess Medical CenterのICUで長年蓄積された匿名化データ（MIMIC III）等のビッグデータを用いて、ハンズオン形式で世界でこの分野の最先端でご活躍されているマサチューセッツ工科大学、国立シンガポール大学の専門家から臨床データの解析手法を学ぶ場を提供させていただきます。この会議が、ビッグデータを通じ、医療従事者、システムエンジニア、統計学者、企業、ベンチャー企業などが多職種チームとして臨床での治療を最適化することを共通のビジョンとしてもっております 。
